Patong is the main resort area of Phuket, and the exchange business here is geared toward tourists to the maximum. There are exchangers on every corner, especially along Bangla Road, but their rate is one of the worst on the island: the location is expensive, the flow of people is large, and there is no need to rush anyone. Not every such spot takes rubles, and a good dollar rate is often only for large banknotes.
It is more practical not to change a large sum right on the tourist street. For a decent rate people go to licensed chains or order an exchange online with baht delivered straight to the hotel in Patong. That way you get a rate closer to the market one and do not depend on the mood of a street exchanger.
